Born in India, Malini studied at one of Mumbai’s prestigious schools - Cathedral & John Connon School, after which she pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology.

To actualize her childhood passion she then pursued a three year Diploma in Interior Design and Decoration. On graduating from Mumbai’s Sophia Polytechnic, Malini worked with a few reputable Architectural and Interior Design firms in Mumbai where she travelled extensively on several projects around India.

In 1990, Malini worked in unision with an architect in Mumbai and together they designed several offices and residences.

Malini moved to Hong Kong in April 1992 to work with  an internationally renowned Interior Design firm Hirsch Bedner & Associates (HBA). As an Interior Designer/Decorator, she undertook various prestigious hospitality projects in the region. She worked on several projects, traveling extensively for inspiration, design, sourcing and installation.

After working with HBA for 5 years she chose to venture out on her own working on residential and hospitality projects in India, Bhutan, Hong Kong, China & the US.

Realizing the need for customized solutions, Malini created a line of chic yet affordable home products & accessories called Shakti. The line was inspired by Asian & European influences.

Malini continues to design hotels and residences in the region, offering a wide range of design concepts to suit individual client needs.
